On July 2, Metsä Board will open a new packaging design studio in Milan to significantly accelerate the joint development of innovative packaging solutions with its customers. The new location strategically positions the company in one of Europe’s most important markets and enables closer, earlier collaboration with customers from the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics sectors.

The focus is on an integrated development approach: design expertise, material science know-how, and data-driven simulations (including AI-powered tools) are developed in parallel rather than sequentially. This combination reduces uncertainty, shortens development cycles, and ensures that solutions can be evaluated for practicality, recyclability, and regulatory compliance much earlier in the process.

By being integrated into customer projects at an early stage, Metsä Board helps brands optimize material usage and achieve their sustainability targets.

Metsä Board is listed on the NASDAQ Helsinki exchange and reported revenue of EUR 1.9 billion in 2025. The company employs approximately 2,300 people. Metsä Board is part of the Metsä Group, whose parent company, the Metsäliitto Cooperative, is owned by more than 90,000 Finnish forest owners.
